Coupland’s Bakeries is proud to be one of the largest independently owned bakery chains in New Zealand with retail bakeries throughout the South Island, Hamilton, Rotorua, and Tauranga.
As the ‘Home of Good Baking’ we aim to pass onto consumers both great customer service and wonderful products which we hope you enjoy as much as we do.
We have a passion for food and innovation with a focus on using local
ingredients, especially local wheat, wherever possible.
Our baker’s expertise means we can consistently deliver you tasty, high quality products with a freshness component others find difficult to match.
Our “great quality products need not cost the earth” approach for our expansive range of baked goods makes Coupland’s Bakeries a family favourite in many homes throughout the country.
The Coupland’s manufacturing site in Christchurch is a comprehensive manufacturing site with a mixture of fully automated lines and craft areas designed to provide the vast range of goods required by the retail market. We always try to use 100% NZ products and only the finest, tastiest, ingredients in our recipes.
Pies are a core part of our business and we have 2 automated lines capable of producing thousands of pies per hour from single serve through to jumbo family size. Our savouries still have a large handmade component and are baked fresh daily in our specially built ovens.
Coupland’s Bakeries has the largest cookie/ biscuit production line in the South Island. This line is fully automated and has been specifically built using our own in-house technology and expert baking knowledge. This state of the art cookie/biscuit line can produce thousands of cookies per hour. Whilst we can, and do, produce a large number of cookies per hour we do not compromise taste and quality.
Our cakes and slices are made on semi-automated lines then hand finished to give them the appeal of home-made. From the delicious individual portions of our Classic & Premium slices, right through to the fabulous gateaux in our dessert range; we are confident that with over 50 products in this category, there is something for all.
Through the use of our innovative engineering team, Coupland’s Bakeries has built a state of the art bread plant which produces several thousand loaves of fresh bread per hour. This plant is highly efficient and operates seven days a week, 363 days a year. Coupland’s Bakeries bread plant is fully automated to ensure consistency and freshness. At any one time, from start to finish, there can be up to 10,000 loaves going through the kneading, proofing, baking, slicing and wrapping processes in this plant.
In 2011, we were proud to add a Hamilton manufacturing site to our portfolio; ensuring that our North Island customers experience the same quality of fresh bread and rolls that our South Island customer base enjoy.
Buns & Rolls are produced on a semi-automated line that ensures we can produce a wide variety of products with consistent quality standards.
All our filled rolls and sandwiches are handmade to very precise quality standards. The specially built, temperature controlled, preparation room ensures Coupland’s can deliver the freshest, tastiest and food safe products possible seven days a week.
Following the events of the Christchurch Earthquakes, we have developed a close association with those organizations helping families and people in need such as the Christchurch City Mission, the Salvation Army and Ronald McDonald House; and continue to provide quality food to these places on a very regular basis.
Coupland’s also sponsors numerous local agencies & groups by providing them with products for their fundraising efforts.
