Easter Egg Decorations

Removing the yolk

  1. With your raw egg in one hand, carefully puncture one end with the safety pin. Be very careful.
  2. Move the pin around so that the hole becomes larger, and hopefully the yolk will break.
  3. Puncture the other end of the egg in the same way.
  4. Hold the egg over the bowl and allow the yolk to drain.
  5. When you no longer feel yolk moving around inside, rinse off the outside and let dry.
  6. Repeat this process for as many eggs as you want to decorate.

Otherwise for a more kid friendly approach

  • Boil the eggs in a saucepan of water for 5-7 minutes
  • Remove and place in cold water for a further 30 minutes
  • Set aside hard boiled eggs to decorate

Egg Decorating Ideas

  • Cover the egg shell in glue and cover it in glitter. This works best if the glitter is in a bowl so the egg can be fully submerged. Disco eggs!
  • Go into your backyard and pick up pretty findings from nature – leaves, flower petals, grass. Glue these bits to your eggs for a rustic look to your Easter basket.
  • Paint the eggs with your favourite colours

Easter Slime

  •  2 cups of red glitter glue (or colour of your choice)
  •  1.5 cups very warm water
  •  A few drops of cinnamon or peppermint extract
  •   2 mixing bowls
  •      2 wooden spoons
  •   3 Teaspoons of corn flour
  • Extract 1 & 1/3 cup of warm water
  •   Extra red glitter & green glitter

    1. Add the red glitter glue, 1.5 cups of warm water, cinnamon or peppermint extract and extra glitter in a bowl and mix well with the wooden spoon.
    2. In a separate bowl mix the cornflour and the 1 & 1/3 cups of warm water with the other wooden spoon.
    3. Add the cornflour mixture to the glitter mixture.
    4. Mix it all together with your hands and the slime will start to form.
    5. Continue mixing with your hands until the slime reaches the correct consistency.

If the slime is too sticky dissolve a small amount of cornflour in a small drop of water and add it to the slime & mix thoroughly.
