Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Why not make it extra special by making something delicious?

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk (or Soy or Rice Milk)
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 6-8 thick slices of Coupland’s Our Country Harvest White Toast Bread (day old bread is best)
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • Tbsp of butter (or margarine, optional)

Method

  1. Beat the milk, eggs and cinnamon until combined in a bowl.
  2. Pour into a shallow dish and dip the bread slices in, making sure both sides are coated.
  3. In a large frying pan heat oil and butter until over medium heat, fry the bread both sides until golden brown.
  4. Drain on a paper towel, keep warm in the oven while you make the rest.
  5. To serve: Dust with icing sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.
Add crispy bacon and sliced bananas or fruit of your choice for extra fancy French toast!

Do you have a favourite breakfast treat?

The Staff kids Christmas party is a strong tradition for the Coupland’s family and was back again in 2018 at Spencer Park for an action-packed day of fun! This event has been around for over a decade and is one of our favourite events of the season!
The weather turned it on again this year with a warm summer’s day. The party started at midday with an awesome itinerary of games, competitions, food, the fire brigade and of course Santa coming to give all the kids presents!

Lunch was cooked and ready for everyone to dive into before the activities kicked off! For the games the kids were divided into age groups and could compete in the Running, hula hoop, egg & spoon and sack race! Medals were given out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each event.

After the games Santa turned up to give all the good kids of Coupland’s a present each! We think this is a pretty special occasion as the children get shown how important they are to our business and we want them to feel special.

Luckily with this hot weather the fire brigade turned up to cool everyone down. The kids ran around and had a big water fight which was surely needed in the heat! Then the day finally finished off with an iconic lolly scramble.
Overall the 2018 Picnic was a success and it definitely made it worthwhile seeing the smiles and laughs on our kids and staff’s faces. We can’t wait for 2019!

Summer has arrived! Which means why not get outside into fresh New Zealand air and our world class surrounding and enjoy a delicious picnic?

No matter where you plan to stop for a bite to eat, picnics can be quick and easy to prepare and are a great chance to catch up with family & friends.

Some foods tend to travel better than others, so here are a few tips to help you prepare.

Try to avoid packing anything which might spoil in transit or requires a knife or fork. The best tip is to have finger food or second best only needs a fork when you are picnicking. Tarts, quiches, savouries, pies, couscous, rice, pasta and noodles are good wholesome foods to include.k

Heavy mayonnaise salads aren’t the best choice for a side as they can spoil in the sun. Think more Mediterranean style for some flavoursome inspiration.

How to avoid soggy sandwiches? The age old question, for a picnic try having your buns & rolls plain and pack your selection of cold meats & cheeses separate. Then assemble your sandwiches once you are there.

Most foods need to be consumed within an hour or two of being out of a fridge. Remember if you are traveling far, a chilly bin is essential to take with you. Take a bag of ice with you to place food on. The ice can be used to keep drinks cold once you get there!

Lastly don’t forget something sweet. Cakes, muffins, biscuits, loaves and slices make the perfect picnic desserts.

New Zealand is blessed with some of the most magical picnic spots in the world. During summertime when the weather is warm grab your basket and blanket and head to the beach, the park or any of our beautiful lakes & rivers and enjoy with your loved ones!
